DFW Restaurant Week Extended

For local foodies who have so far missed out on the first few weeks of DFW Restaurant Week, don’t despair as the event has been extended to August 30. At least 50 of the original 125 participating restaurants will continue to take part until the end of the month.

A chance to enjoy what Dallas/Fort Worth restaurants have to offer at a portion of the cost in many cases, DFW Restaurant Week comes with a choice of lunch or three or four-course meals. While the restaurant Abacus did not extend, Executive Chef and Proprietor of Abacus, Kent Rathbun, who has supported and taken part in the event for the past 15 years, said of his involvement, “Being in the restaurant business, we have the opportunity to serve people who have the means to go out and spend money on a delicious meal. However, there are so many people in the world and in Dallas, Texas, that are not so lucky. We continue to be involved in Restaurant Week and do many charitable events that benefit the North Texas Food Bank because we want to do our part and help in any possibly way to those that are in need and are hungry. Restaurant Week also allows for diners who typically do not get to eat at places like Abacus an opportunity to experience a unique dining destination."

Good options for a meal at one of the participating restaurants include my favorites, Del Frisco’s Grille, who have participated the past two years and will be offering its menu until August 23. Or, consider Cook Hall at the W, the Pyramid Restaurant and Bar at the Fairmont Dallas, or any of Stephan Pyles’ range of restaurant choices, all through August 30.

With prix fixe menus that began being served on August 10, DFW Restaurant Week offers $35 and $45 three-course dinner menus and the Cadillac Lunch Experience Menu, with 20 percent of the price of the meal going to the North Texas Food Bank or the Lena Pope Home, as in years past, to help local children and families in need. That’s $4 for every lunch, $7 for every $35 dinner, and $9 for every $45 dinner. Last year’s event saw thousands of hungry locals taking part in the cause and it was estimated that almost $716,000 was raised for both charities.

At the Fairmont Dallas’ Pyramid Room, Nicole Considine, Director, Sales & Marketing says they have been part of DFW Restaurant Week for at least four years. “We are excited to participate in Restaurant Week to be able to share what the Pyramid has to offer with customers that may not normally dine with us or are unfamiliar with our location.”
