Introducing our new Minister of Music, Reid Williams!

Since 2007, Reid has led worship at The Woods United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, leading both Traditional and Contemporary worship services, directing the adult choir, children’s choir, ensembles and hand bell choirs.

From 1987-2007, he was at the Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., where his roles were Soloist, Section Leader, Director of Contemporary Worship, coordinated large production events, blended choir and hand bells.

During that same time period, Reid was a part of The United States Navy Band, Washington D.C.; Vocalist, Conductor, Producer, Preferentially Staffed White House Unit and Soloist, and he was the Annual Tour Operations Manager (managed all elements and details related to taking the Navy Band on tour: travel scheduling, itinerary coordination, facility booking, etc.)

After graduating from South Grand Prairie High School in 1979, he attended The University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Music Education from 1980-1983 and then spent one year at Hardin Simmons studying Vocal Performance.

Reid is passionately involved in historic preservation and recently completed the restoration of his circa-1900 farm house where he currently resides (Grand Prairie). He is an avid farmer, focusing on organic horticulture and taking great pride in the fact that he produces about 85 percent of the food consumed at his household.

Reid believes that God’s worship is too glorious and complex to be solely represented by any single style of music. He believes we are called as Christian musicians to continually challenge our musical limits and expertise, and press toward a more complete understanding of our role as music leaders in worship.

He shares our excitement and enthusiasm as he looks forward to the truly wonderful possibilities that God has in store for the Music Ministries of First United Methodist Church in Duncanville.

Reid’s first Sunday with us will be Father's Day, June 16.
