Shannon Sanderford, Miss Duncanville 2014, will leave for the Miss Texas Pageant on June 28 with hopes of taking the Miss Texas crown all the way to Miss America in Atlantic City, NJ in September. Mackenzie Rutledge, Duncanville's Outstanding Teen 2014 will arrive at the Miss Texas' Outstanding Teen Pageant also on June 28 hoping to take the Teen crown on to Miss America's Outstanding Teen held in Orlando, FL in early August.
Shannon is a 22 year old graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she majored in Journalism and Advertising with a Minor in English Writing. She plans to pursue a Masters degree and then work on advertising or communications for a large scale retailer or advertising firm.
Shannon is the Gaylord Scholastic Achievement Award Recipient; UWA Spring Scholarship Recipient; Chi Omega Christmas Market Scholarship Recipient; Chi Omega Rising Junior Scholarship Recipient; Alpha Lambda Delta Sophomore Scholarship Recipient; Journalism and Mass Communication Dean's Honor Roll for four years in a row; OU President's Honor Roll with a 4.0 for two years; Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Socity Member; and a member of the OU Freshman Honor Roll.
Interesting facts about Shannon include that she can run a mile in under 6 minutes; she has visited 12 countries to date, Thesaurus.com is her favorite website and President George W. Bush wrote her a letter.
Mackenzie is a 16 year old all American teenager who plans to receive her degree in Law or Broadcast Journalism at the University of Texas. She is a member of National Honor Society, National Charity League, and Prestonwood Student Choir and Student Ministry. Mackenzie met Ellen DeGeneres when she was 2 and also met Emma Roberts. She was a competitive figure skater for 8 years. She went on her first mission trip to Atlanta in the spring of 2012 and attended another one to Seattle and Vancouver in the summer of 2013.
