The International Museum of Cultures is the only contemporary cultural anthropology institution of its kind in Texas. Its focus is to feature the lives of emerging peoples and provide a global understanding and awareness of the challenges these peoples face in their communities. Exhibits, educational programs, and public events highlight people of diverse cultures in an effort to embrace and promote understanding of cultural differences found both in isolated areas of the world and in our own community.
Established in 1979 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, the Museum was founded by linguists and anthropologists associated with the Summer Institute of Linguistics now known as SIL. The Museum exhibits are taken directly from the experiences of these linguists and anthropologists, and provide first-hand knowledge that can only come from living in these remote areas. Come for a visit to experience their appreciation of these cultures and friendships.
Private tours and docent-guided tours available.
HOURS: Monday - Friday 10 AM - 4 PM, Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
ADMISSION: $7.50 adults, $5.00 children 12 and under & seniors
